Ms. LI Yuk Lin Helena
Ms. LI Yuk Lin Helena began her nursing career in Queen Elizabeth Hospital Hong Kong. She completed her midwifery training in England. She took up management position as General Manager (Nursing) in Cheshire Home Shatin in 1996, and the General Manager (Nursing) of Tai Po Hospital in 1998. Both hospitals were accredited by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong as training ground for nursing students of the pre-registered (general) and (psychiatric) nursing programmes respectively.
Helena was appointed as the Chairman of Nursing Training Committee Hospital Authority. She actively led the committee and developed two on-line E Learning Programmes: Infirmary Nursing and Rehabilitation Nursing, being the foundation course of Nursing Specialty Programmes. Helena was appointed as the Nursing Director of University Hospital Macao and Programme Coordinator of Master of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Macau University of Science & Technology from July 2011 – 31 December 2021. Being the Nursing Director, Helena led the service expansion, led the Master of Nursing Program accreditation in 2021.
Helena volunteered to serve as external member of the Course Validation Panel of the Vocational Training Council in 2009, to serve as member of Advisory Peer Group: Nursing Programme of the then Open University of Hong Kong 2000-2011; appointed as Adjunct Professor by the Nethersole School of Nursing, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She was invited by the Faculty of Nursing, Naresuan University Thailand to deliver one-day programme “Advanced Nursing Practice & Patient Safety” in 2017; invited by the Agency for Integrated Care, Singapore to talk about “Governance: Safeguard Safety and Quality in Health Service organization” in the Integrated Long Term Care Quality Festival, Singapore in 2015. Under the Nursing Council, she actively participated in Professional Development Committee, Education Committee; and Accreditation Committee. Helena has witnessed the development and launching of Voluntary Continuing Nursing Education Scheme; the refinement of Nursing Syllabus and Accreditation Visit to Nursing Schools of Hong Kong.
With Helena strong leadership and the group effort of council members of HKCMN, the first training curriculum being the blue print for HKCMN Advanced Practice (Medicine) Nursing Certification Programme including the 12 subspecialties was approved by the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing.
Helena was an active volunteer of Red Cross since 2003, leading the development of Health Care Assistant Training. Helena is also active volunteer of the Hong Kong Nurses Training & Education Foundation. From 2005 to 2011, Helena made regular trip to conduct training on Rehabilitation Nursing to nurses in various provinces of mainland.
