There are 6 Committees formed under the Council of the HKANM to carry out specific functions for the Academy as below:

Accreditation Committee
  • To set, monitor and enforce the standards of Academy Colleges.
  • To recommend to the HKANM Council, the criteria for the accreditation of professional organizations to be Academy Colleges.
  • To recommend to the HKANM Council the procedures, documentations and fees payable for accreditation of Academy Colleges.
  • To conduct accreditation processes for Academy Colleges and make recommendations to the HKANM Council.
  • To keep under review the existing policy and process of accreditation, and to make recommendations to the HKANM Council for improvement when necessary.
Community, Promotion and Public Relations Committee
  • To organize activities to promote and publicize the HKANM.
  • To establish networks with external parties/stakeholders.
  • To promote image of HKANM through publications or other communication strategies.
Education Committee
  • Coordinating and monitoring the programs of postgraduate education and training of the Colleges to ensure that they are of the standards set by the HKANM;
  • Ensuring the proper organization and conduct of examinations;
  • Advising the HKANM Council on education and training policy of the HKAN, and on any other matters concerning postgraduate education and training.
Fund Raising Committee
  • To strengthen community networking through community activities (such as community health promotion, advanced nursing practice and healthcare research);
  • To organize activities to raise funds for HKANM.
Professional Development Committee
  • To recommend guidelines for establishing defined areas of specialty and subspecialty; 
  • To develop the Code of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics for specialist nursing practice in accordance with international standard; 
  • To identify trends and support educational activities in overall advanced nursing practice and education in collaboration with concerned parties; 
  • To advise and recommend to the Council on guidelines, frameworks and policies relevant to advanced nursing practice and
  • To advise the Council on the needs of continuing education of nursing specialists and to recommend the Council on the guideline of membership renewal.
Registration and Membership Committee
  • To assess the applications for entering the Institutional Membership, Ordinary Membership and Fellow Membership and to recommend approval or rejection of these applications.
  • To assess the applications for recertification into the Institutional Membership, Ordinary Membership and Fellow Membership and to recommend approval or rejection of these applications.
  • To assess the applications for the restoration of names to the Institutional Membership, Ordinary Membership and Fellow Membership and to recommend approval or rejection of these applications.
  • To assess the applications for the removal of names from the Institutional Membership, Ordinary Membership, Fellow Membership and Honorary Fellow Membership and to recommend approval or rejection of these applications.
  • To keep and update the Specialist Registry of all academy’s membership.
  • To consider the various matters relating to the issuing of the specialist certificate.
